Great, amazing, fantastic weekend...
So, I went to see Second City this weekend, as they were here in the Soo, I was ushering the show, and it was free. For those of you who don't know, The Second City is an improv group out of Chicago, responsible for making famous such comedians as Stephen Colbert, Mike Myers and John Belushi. They are a hilarious group... I wasn't gonna miss it.
So, I went. And the show was amazing. And I got called up on stage to help. They asked me a few questions like what my name was, what my day was like, who the people I was sitting with were. Then, they did the most amazing thing ever.
They did an improv skit based on my day... in the form of a Broadway musical.
YES.
So, that was cool enough and after the show they invited us out and then I got kicked outta a bar. That was fun.
The next night we went back to the show (i was ushering again) and the show was amazing and they noticed us there and after the show they talked to us and invited us out to dinner. But, alas, they were going to a bar, so I couldn't go, but Stacy did. She said they had a blast! Not to mention... one of them added me on facebook! Which was cool! Seeing them on stage reinforced my want to become a comedian. Improv is just... amazing. And if I could learn it and perform it... I'd be so incredibly happy.
SO. I decided that I'm going to sign up for their summer workshops. They have both comedy writing and improv intensive. The longest lasts 2-weeks, which is perfect! I really wanna do this. And the best part? They are in Chicago! I LOVE CHICAGO! Therefore... I'm going. This is a dream of mine, and I have to do it!
Yay!
